Description

In winch operation, horntools synthetic ropes are characterized by extremely low weight. With a 4 ton winch system you save approx. 10 kg of weight that you would otherwise carry in front of the axle year in, year out.

Safety:

Safety is another point where synthetic fiber ropes come into play. If the rope breaks, it does not snap back like a steel cable, which can cause serious injuries.

Rope guidance:

Recovery winches installed in cars and four-wheel-drive vehicles usually also have no rope guide. Without a rope guide it is inevitable that the ropes are not wound up in even layers, i.e. they cross over each other. With a steel cable this immediately leads to a strand break inside the cable. Synthetic ropes are much less sensitive in this respect.

Heat sensitivity:

Of course there is no advantage without a disadvantage: synthetic ropes are very sensitive to heat, which has an effect especially on electric winches that have a brake in the rope drum. The electric motor and the drum brake heat up. That is why our ropes have heat protection for the first layer of rope, which absorbs a good deal of this.

Care:

Care of synthetic fiber ropes is very important. We offer an impregnation that not only keeps the rope supple but also prevents water and dust from penetrating. The impregnation lubricates the rope on the outside and thus ensures lower friction. Water can become a problem when it freezes, as the rope then breaks very easily. Dust and dirt settle in the rope and wear down the material over time. Do not put your synthetic fiber ropes in the washing machine or wash them off under extreme pressure with a pressure washer. This weakens the fibers.

UHMWPE is very resistant to corrosive chemicals. (Exception: oxidizing acids) It is non-toxic, odorless and tasteless. The fiber is perfectly suited as a winch rope; thanks to extremely low moisture absorption, a very low coefficient of friction and self-lubrication, the fiber is very resistant to abrasion. Its coefficients of friction are significantly lower than those of nylon and
comparable to Teflon. However, the abrasion resistance is higher than that of Teflon.

UHMWPE: ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene
Also known as HMPE polyethylene (high modulus), or HDPE high-performance polyethylene, it has extremely long chains. The molecular mass is between 2 and 6 million. The longer chains strengthen the intermolecular interactions, which means the fiber becomes stronger, which makes the extremely high breaking load and impact resistance possible. Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene is a subgroup of thermoplastic polyethylene.
